Classic Hummus

In a delux cooking blender, add all ingredients and press "grind" to form a smooth paste. Use tamper if ingredients creep up the side of the blender. If the mixture is too thick, add water as needed to adjust the consistency. Serve with fresh veggies or pita chips.

Ingredients

Number Of Servings: 4

1 3/4 C cooked chickpeas OR 1 can of chickpeas/garbanzo beans, rinsed well
3 T fresh lemon juice
1 head roasted garlic OR 2 cloves fresh garlic, peeled
1/3 C tahini
1/3 C of any of The Olive Bin's Extra Virgin Olive Oils
1/4 C water, or as needed to adjust consistency
3/4 tsp ground cumin
3/4 tsp sea salt

optional: 2 T of soy sauce

Directions

Additional Info

  • Variations: Roasted Red Pepper - add about 1/4 C chopped roasted red pepper and a bit of the water from the pepper INSTEAD of water. 
  • Roasted Red  Pepper, Artichoke, or Olives - add chopped to garnish the top of prepared hummus. 
  • Sprinkle a bit of smoked paprika on top or Za'ater seasoning.
