The Olive Bin

Must-Have Mustard

Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan and cook over medium-low to medium heat for six (6)minutes. Stir frequently until sauce thickens; remove from heat. Allow the mustard to cool completely, and store in an airtight container. To preserve spiciness in your mustard, refrigerate immediately. To mellow the kick, allow to sit at room temperature for 1-2 days (the longer it sits at room temperature, the less spice is preserved).

Additional Info

The main ingredient in this common condiment is actually balsamic vinegar - and now that you know, you can make your own mustard that's better in taste and without the additives of store-bought condiments!

Get creative with your mustard by changing the flavor of balsamic vinegar (try Honey Gineger or Serrano Honey (Seasonal)!) You can also add herbs, truffle salts, wine, ale, chilies, peppercorns, horseradish, or any other flavoring you want to try!

Makes approximately 1 1/2 cups of mustard.
